Bringing the warmth of Christmas to Peru

Orchids of Light proudly partners with Path of the Heart, an organization providing food, clothing, education and necessities to the indigent children and families in the sacred valley region and surrounding communities in Peru.  For the past 11 years, Path of the Heart has organized a special Christmas project.

This years summary comes once again from founder Washington (Washi) Gibaja Tapia

“In this Christmas 2013 project we will bring hot chocolate, special bread and beautiful gifts to 3,000 homes and school children in 20 native villages in the Valleys and upper Highlands of the Andes in Peru.  Most of these villages currently do not have electricity and have only one school with a teacher who lives in the village.  Due to the difficult conditions of living at this high altitude, there are no other people arriving to offer Christmas Gifts.  For over 11 years we are traveling to these communities and bringing happiness and joy to the kids and families.”

Total number of children served by the project is approximately 3000. The project will be done in 4 days in all 20 villages starting on the 21st of December. The cost for the project for each child is $1.20.

 Details of the project:

·         600 liters of milk.
·         100 bars of 1 pound natural chocolate
·         300 pounds of natural sugar
·         3000 Special bread
·         200 pound of oak meal
·         5 pound of Sinnamon and other spices.
