HOLY CHURCH OF AGIOS ANARGYROS LIVADIOS
The Holy Church of the Miraculous and Healing Anargyron is the first large church of this isolated village in Greece. The rhythm of the three-aisled basilica testifies to the grandiose work for the time. Including the historical circumstances. Orchid reflects on the feat achieved by the village ancestors. We can find them in the memorials and in the liturgical books of the Church, the names of the founders are preserved, among them: Anthimos the Olympian and the bishop of Petra Neophytos.
Father Hieromonk Partalas
Father Partalas oversees the life of this fragile building the same as he does the children of the village. He is the supporting pillar of the Church and the community. For years, the Church has been facing serious structural problems. There are large cracks in the walls, while the columns have leaned from time and wear. The floor has a noticeable slope. Even during the service, soil falls onto the Holy Altar. The most historic Church of Livadi is now threatened with collapse.
THE BELL TOWER
The stone-built bell tower of the Church, the highest and oldest in the village, was added in the 19th century. It contains dedicatory wall panels. At its highest point, it is adorned with elaborate arches and four clocks, which for many years gave the pulse to the daily life of the village. Its repair and preservation is a high priority.
