Where do the children play?

I have fond memories of soaring high on a swing and building towering castles of sand in my local neighborhood playground. For so many, these playful pictures remained engraved in our hearts and minds and were truly formation in our childhood development.

Do you remember laughing and jumping in a playground?

Have you seen the bright smiles on faces of your children or students when “playtime” is announced and they speedily rush toward the swing set?

While these are moments and memories to cherish and will indeed last a lifetime, the sad reality is that for so many children around the world they will never have those moments.

This begs another question:  Where do the children play?

One of my favorite singers from the 1970’s is Cat Stevens.  One of his more popular and profound songs was entitled that question. You can watch his music video here:

Cat Steven’s “Where do the children play?”

The song reflects awareness of the turmoil of the late 1960s and the issues involved; war, urban sprawl, poverty, ecological disaster and the future of humankind.

Regardless of the myriad of reasons behind the question, the sad reality is that for thousands of children there is no place to play.

While it may seem depressing and a daunting task, the good news is that WE can make a difference in the lives of children.

Together we can help provide a place to play for beautiful children in Barranquilla, Colombia

This year Mahanaim has asked us to raise $5000 to build a playground for the children of the community where they can grow and strengthen their bodies while Milton Torres Florian and company strengthen their faith that God’s promise will, in fact, be delivered.

According to Milton, this project will “Impact the lives of children and other members of the community by creating a space that would guarantee them dignity and the attention that promotes their development.”

If you would like to learn more about the specifics for the playground project, including some pictures of the dream, please visit the link below

Currently, through the generosity of angels like you, Orchids has been able to raise $2,600 towards The Playground Project.

Will you help answer the question that can change the lives of so many children and help bring laughter and smiles to a new playground?

Help these children soar high with joy and make childhood memories that will last a lifetime!
